Birrong Books is an imprint division of Boyer Educational Resources and the word Birrung (birrong), in William Dawes manuscript, was recorded as meaning 'star'.

Birrong Books was established, in 2013, when Susan Boyer finished writing , 'Across Great Divides'. Susan wanted her historical titles published under a business name that differentiated it from Boyer Educational Resources.

Boorong is another form of spelling star in the Indigenous Dharug language and it was the name of the young Aboriginal girl, taken in by the Rev. Richard Johnson and his wife Mary, during the smallpox outbreak in Sydney Cove in 1789.

Susan Boyer's Australian historical titles include:

'Tunnel to Tar-Ra' (Susan's latest book)

'Across Great Divides - true stories of life at Sydney Cove'

'Stories of life at Sydney Cove'

'People in Australia's Past'

The first three titles have been based on recorded history from the journals, letters, diaries and reports by the British First Fleet settlers of Sydney Cove. The period covers 1787 to 1792.
